Must-Read Before Your Furano Ski Trip: The Complete Guide to Shipping Luggage & Gear

Sending ski equipment and luggage to Furano: what to check first
Sending bulky luggage or ski equipment ahead can make a journey easier, but the available service depends on the item, its packaging, its size and weight, and the route. Check these details and the expected delivery date with Yamato before you send anything.
Before sending a parcel to your accommodation
Furano House is a private holiday rental and does not have a 24-hour reception desk. Please contact us before addressing a parcel to the property. We cannot promise to receive or store a delivery unless arrangements have been agreed in advance.
Collecting a parcel at a Yamato office in Furano
Yamato lists two different office collection options: 営業所止置きサービス and 営業所受け取りサービス. Their procedures differ. Ask the Yamato counter which option applies to your parcel and how the waybill should be completed. Do not rely on adding “Center Tomeoki” to an ordinary address without confirming the correct service.
The Yamato Furano office listing currently gives these details:
- Office: ヤマト運輸 ふらの営業所(ふらの)
- Office code: 000761
- Address: 〒076-0035 北海道富良野市学田三区4747-5
- Listed hours: 08:00–20:00 daily
Hours and services can change. Check Yamato’s current Furano office listing before travelling there.
What to confirm before you send
- Ask the sending counter whether office collection is available for your parcel and origin, and which of the two services to use.
- Confirm how to write the office name, address and six-digit office code on the waybill. Yamato asks customers to enter the recipient’s name and contact number; use the details of the person who will collect the parcel.
- For skis or a snowboard, check the applicable service, packaging, size and weight limits with Yamato. Its ski service has specific conditions, so do not assume every item can travel as an ordinary parcel.
- Ask Yamato to check the expected arrival date for your dispatch location and intended collection day. There is no fixed number of days that applies to every route, and winter conditions may affect delivery.
- Keep the tracking number and check the parcel status before setting out.
For collection, Yamato says to bring identification and something showing the waybill number. A signature can be used instead of a personal seal. See Yamato’s collection requirements.
